FAQ: FAQ

Will I work with the same therapist from beginning of treatment to the end?

Yes you will! We feel that it is important for the client and therapist to develop a good working relationship and this can only be done by continually working together. The therapist will be able to consistently evaluate your injury and modify your treatment plan based on your progress. The therapist will also be in constant communication with your prescribing physician.

Are Physical Therapists licensed?

Yes! NY requires all practicing PT's to pass a rigorous licensure exam in order to receive a license to practice. PT's are also required to complete yearly continuing education courses in order to maintain their license. The PT's at Liverpool Physical Therapy are required to attend courses to learn new, innovative treatment methods.

Do I need a prescription from my physician or can I just call for an appointment?

In NY, under Direct Access, a patient can receive up to 10 PT visits within 30 days without a prescription from a physician. This can be done with all insurance carriers, except workers compensation and no fault.

What will take place during the first appointment?

During the initial appointment, the therapist will work with you to complete an in-depth health history evaluation and will spend time evaluating your injury. At that point, an individualized treatment plan will be developed and the healing will begin!

How quickly can I schedule an appointment?

Typically, a patient can be seen within 24 hours of calling. Often times, a same-day appointment can be made.

How long does a typical PT appointment last?

Most appointments between 45 minutes and an hour.

What should I wear to an appointment?

It is best to wear loose, comfortable clothing.

What if I don't get better with PT?

If your condition is not completely resolved with PT, your therapist will consult with another skilled PT within the clinic. If your symptoms persist then we will consult with you and your physician to help you decide on the best course of action.
